Judith Jamison Celebrates 50th Anniversary

Artistic Director Emerita Judith Jamison celebrates her 50th Anniversary with the Ailey company.

After nearly 20 years, the Ailey company makes a historic return to South Africa. They performed in Johannesburg and Cape Town, and led workshops, master classes, and lecture demonstrations in over two dozen schools, universities, and community centers.

The Company makes its national film debut as part of “Lincoln Center at the Movies: Great American Dance.” The film includes Chroma by Wayne McGregor, Grace by Ronald K. Brown, Takademe by Robert Battle, and Revelations by Alvin Ailey, along with behind-the-scenes footage and exclusive interviews with the artists.

Simon & Schuster publishes My Story, My Dance: Robert Battle’s Journey to Alvin Ailey, an inspiring children’s book based on Mr. Battle’s life.

Awakening, Robert Battle’s first new work for the Ailey company since becoming its Artistic Director, premieres.
